Government Should Pay Attention to District Tharparkar Issues

The district Tharparkar connects two countries in the south and east side of Pakistan with India, due to lack of facilities, the district faces numerous daily life issues. It is located on the south and east border of Indo-Pak, where Karoonjhar Mountain has taken place. The desert Tharparkar is known as the ” Thar Desert” which is only fertile in the rainy season. It produces the natural beauty in that season when people come to visit historical places in Nagarparkar city where “Jen Temple, Choriyo Temple, and Karoonjhar Mountain” are located.

On the other side, the world’s largest coal mining is also in Tharparkar, it considered the largest coal-producing place in Pakistan and the world. Thari people faced several issues in past but there was no revolution in education, the health sector and social issues. Previously, top media reporters have unveiled the issues of the Tharparkar desert on national and international levels.

Basically, Tharparkar is only a desert which fertilize in autumn season and it produce the demandable harvest which sold all over the country with high price. Till yet, the government didn’t finalize the decision regarding the development of agriculture in Tharparkar.

Tharparkar Population

Over 1.77 million recorded in Tharparkar according to the data, the majority of Hindu population is in Tharparkar Like Meghwar, Kolhi, Bheel and others casts. It covers the 19,638km squares area and it has only one division which Mirpurkhas Division. The district headquarter located in Mithi city which is known for its beauty of “Gadi Bhit” which is tallest place of city.

The Tharparkar desert was founded in 1860 by British India Government, it is known for its beauty, culture, agriculture as well as other natural beautiful place which has the spread the Tharparkar on international level. Slowly, the population is increasing according to the data which compared as of 2019.

Tharparkar Issues

It can not be said, that there’s no issue in Tharparkar. For many years, the Thar desert faced major issues like water and health facilities, now the government has made efforts to control health and water-related issues in the desert. But there are other several issues which are known as the primary issues and these should be fixed soon to provide timely facilities for people.

Road: People of Thar faces lack road and water issues yet, which are the main problems in desert. The road is only a way that connect villages to cities to reach timely in case any emergency related to pregnancy’s or accidental. People travel from village to city by off road jeep to purchase goods, sell something.

Health: If you look backwards at the health facilities which were counted as limited in district Tharparkar, women face delivery-related issues and hospitals which functionalize but do not face emergency delivery to save the life of a woman and a child. Several years later, a woman birth to his first baby by travelling 300km. Limited health facilities are given to hospitals in Tharparkar, and people have protested to provide the basic facilities to its hospitals to face any emergency.

Water: The most-demanding issue by Thari people, in the desert people get water after long-walk and they pull the rope from the well by calling many people to bring the water out of the well. They watering and return to home and save the water for cooking and animals.

Government Attention

The Sindh government has taken efforts to facilitate the Thari people but their mission could not work well, the government didn’t provide the roads, water facilities in privileges’ areas and facilities yet. Only limited action taken which provides some RO Plants among of these are functional and others are non-functional.

Some private organization has distributed the water-project that also helps people to pull the water easily with the help of solar panels. The government has provided some BHUs, GDs in few villages of Tharparkar desert which are functionalized with basic medicine and facilities for patients.

Thar Coal Project

The biggest and shape-changing thar coal project were started in 2011, the coal is estimated about 185.17 billions of ton which known as the 7th largest reserved project. To produce the energy from coal, two companies has done the project with government, the Shenhua company produce 600 Mega Watt while the Thar Engro Coal Mining Company has made an agreement to produce 12MW electricity from coal which is provided to main gird station.

Thar Coal Project has bring several benefits for people who were facilitated with high-level roads, employment opportunities, business opportunities to get tender in company and has spread the education in privilege areas. Several programs were designed to aware the people and spread thari culture.

Thar Foundation is an real example which has revaluated the education of Thar since it has taken charge. Several Thari females are part of the Thar Foundation working as a “Teacher”. It has also give scholarship opportunities to poor students who does not afford academic fees to reach out at the country-wide institutions.

Poverty

Due to poverty, people suicide and end their life and also creates more financial problems for other family members. Every year, many people suicide and the only cause disclosed that “due to financial issues he suicide” That’s is not enough to hide the reasons behind the financial situation.

It is true that Thari people have only one way of income source that they purchase animals and sell it and get some profit and also they sell milk and desi oil in market to get sufficient income but it does not provide sufficient income to maintain there expenses.
